Padma bridge verdict proves Bengalis not corrupt: Quader
Dhaka: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said the Canadian court judgment over the corruption allegation on World Bank’s financing the Padma Bridge Project has proved that Bengalis are a heroic nation and they are not corrupt.
The minister said this as the chief guest while he was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of ‘Krishibid Day’ at city’s Krishibid Institution auditorium at Khamarbari in Dhaka, reports BSS.
‘The Padma bridge is now within our ability, it is also honour of the Bengali nation ... The Prime Minister threw a challenge to the World Bank,’ said the minister.
‘We said that the Padma bridge would be constructed with our own resources and we are doing it,’ he said.
Even the latest judgment of a Canadian court also has proved that the Bangalee nation is a nation of heroes, not of thieves, said the minister.
The court judgement also has proved that the Padma bridge was started with transparency....and it will conclude in 2018 maintaining with the same transparency, Quader told the function.
