Hasina-Modi meeting to create new opportunities in SE Asia: Suranjit
Dhaka: Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta on Friday said the forthcoming meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will create a new horizon of opportunities in Southeast Asian region.
Suranjit, an Awami League advisory council member, came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion arranged by Bangabandhu Academy at the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh.
Terming Modi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh a milestone, the former minister said it will play a vital role in establishing peace and development in the region.
All unsettled issues, including Teesta water-sharing agreement, will be resolved soon if India’s internal politics doesn’t appear as a barrier, Suranjit added.
Suranjit also urged the government to take immediate action against those responsible for the piling protection collapse of an under-construction building adjacent to Sundarban Hotel in the city’s Karwan Bazar area.
He also urged BNP to take lessons from their mistakes and engage in positive politics rising above jealousy for the greater national interest.
