Chittagong: Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) recovered the SIM card of Mahmuda Aktar Mitu, the murdered wife of former Superintendent of Police Babul Aktar, from a rickshaw puller at Lalmohan Upazila in Bhola.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) Mohammad Quamruzzaman, also Investigation Officer for the murder case, told journalists that police could not found the victim's mobile phone, despite the SIM's recovery.
He said a rickshaw puller in the port city found the SIM beside the road three months ago in the city's Bakolia area.
The police didn't arrest the rickshaw puller as he was found innocent, he added.
Saheda Mosharraf Neela, mother of Mahmuda Aktar Mitu alleged to the police on January 26 that she had found Mitu's phone still active and in use, reports news agency BSS.
On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mitu was stabbed and shot dead by assailants when she was walking their six-year-old son to the school bus near GEC Intersection in the port city.
Police have made several arrests but could not found a motive for the murder during their eight months investigation, the sources said.
