Dhaka: A man was injured as detectives branch (DB) of police opened fire in the Nandipara area of Dhaka’s Khilgaon in the early hours of Friday.

The injured is Khorshed Alam Sohel, in his thirties. Sohel was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police claimed Sohel is an enlisted criminal.

DB (East Division) Inspector Gias Uddin told NTV Online being tipped off police conducted a drive at an under-construction building at Nandipara early on Friday.

Sensing the presence of police, gang of criminals hurled crude bombs and opened fire to them at about 4:00am. Police also fired back, which left Sohel bullet-hit.

Sohel received two bullets on his leg, said the inspector.

The official said police also recovered three pistols and two bullets from the spot.

The law enforcers also detained four associates of Sohel, while they were trying to flee from the spot. Four police officials were also injured during the drive.
