Jhalakati: Police arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and four others, including his mother, on Sunday morning for vandalising a house in college road area in Rajapur of Jhalakari over previous enmity.

The arrestees were Ahsan Habib Rubel, president of Rajapur upazila unit BCL, his mother Hosnewara Begum, his three associates Nazrul Islam, Abu Salek Hawlader and Sharmin Begum.

Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-charge Monirul Gias said BCL leader Rubel along with his associates swooped on the house of a Faruk Hossain and vandalised it for half an hour at about 3:30am following enmity over a land.

Later, Faruk filed a case in this connection.

Local sources said that Tofazzal Hossain, father of Rubel, was injured in a clash between the members of the two families over the disputed on Wednesday.

Later, Tofazzal filed a case accusing 14 people with Rajapur police station.
