Dhaka: Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende placed a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar in the first hour of 21 February paying homage to great language movement martyrs marking  ‘Amar Ekushey’ and the International Mother Language Day.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali was also present.

Brende had meetings with his Bangladesh counterpart Mahmood Ali and Finance Minister AMA Muhith at state guesthouse Padma on Monday.

The dire situation for the Rohingyas, Norway’s concern about the threat of international terrorism in Bangladesh and telecom issues were on the agenda, the Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka said in a message posted on its official Facebook page.

Minister Brende arrived here on Monday as the first-ever Foreign Minister from any Nordic country to Bangladesh.

He is scheduled to leave Dhaka on Tuesday, according to Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.
