Dhaka: A man was killed as a truck hit him in front of staff quarter at Demra in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

The deceased is Babul Patwari, in his sixties, a resident of village of North Peyarpur at Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali.

Babul Patwari was an owner of a restaurant.

Babul’s nephew Badiul Alam said his uncle used to live at a rented house at West Madartek in Shobujbagh. He was hit by a speedy truck while crossing the road in front of Demra staff quarter at about 7:30am.

The accident occurred when Babul was going to his own residence at East Hazinagar area of Demra and was left critically injured.

Later, he was taken to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the accident, DMCH police post in-charge Sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the body was kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
