Chittagong: The Chittagong district police in a series of special drives arrested 283 listed accused, including 11 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different upazilas of the district on Saturday night.  

The law enforcers also seized two light guns, five bullets, 421 litres of liquor during the drives.

In addition to upazila police, nearly 220 additional policemen participated in the drives that were conducted in different parts of the district including in the upazilas of Satkania, Lohagara, Sitakunda, Boalkhali and Chandanaish.

The district special branch Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Naimul Islam said the arrestees were accused in different cases.

Separate cases were filed with the respective polices in this connection.
