Ershad urges transport workers to lift strike
Dhaka: Jatiya Party (JP) chairman HM Ershad on Tuesday urged the transport workers to withdraw their countrywide strike.
"Creating sufferings for the people by observing strike would never ensure welfare for the people", he said addressing a function marking the joining of JP by leaders of different political parties at Banani JP office in capital Dhaka.
Ershad said there is no scope to retreat from executing the law enacted by the government to curb road accidents.
JP Co-Chairman GM Kader, Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader and businessman Syed Khairul Islam, who joined JP, spoke at the function, among others. JP Presidium Member Shunil Shuvo Roy was in the chair.
Welcoming the new comers in the party, Ershad said "Those initiated the politics of vengeance in the country are going to be eliminated."
Ershad, also a former president of the county, hoped that people will bring JP to power again for its development activities in the past.
