Schoolboy hacked dead in Dhaka

Dhaka: A schoolboy was hacked to death at a school lane in West Shewrapara area of Dhaka on Tuesday night.

The deceased in Shajib, around 14 years old, son of Abdur Rashid, also a resident of Sadar upazila in Kishoreganj.

Shajib’s brother-in-law Al Mahmud Babu said around three miscreants; one of them is called Saurav, hacked Shajib’s shoulder and back with sharp weapons at the lane of Holy Cresent School and College at about 10:30pm and left him critically injured.

Shajib was taken to a local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Shajib died at DMCH at about 8:00am on Wednesday.

Al Mahmud Babu said Shajib, along with his parents, used to live a house at the lane in Shewrapara area. Shajib was a student of class IX in Holy Crescent School and College.

However, Babu could not tell the reason behind the murder.

DMCH Police post in-charge Sub-inspector Bacchu Mia said the body was kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
