Dhaka: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday night arrested a person, whom police claimed to be the main arms and explosives supplier of militant outfit neo-JMB.

Boro Mizan, 60, was arrested from a house near Kakoli crossing area in Banani by a team of the specialized police unit.

‘Mizan was the chief military commander of another militant outfit Jund Al Tawhid in the past and later he joined neo-JMB through Tamim Chowdhury, the mastermind of Holey Artisan attack,’ DMP’s official news portal DMPnews said.

Police say Mizan and his gang collect weapons, grenade-making materials, detonators and explosive gel from border areas in Chapainawabganj and send those to neo-JMB men elsewhere in the country, reports BSS.

‘Grenades and pistols used in Holey Artisan attack were brought into Dhaka through Mizan’s syndicate and those were sent to Tamim at his Basundhara den,’ police added.

Mizan was shown arrested under a case lodged with Darusalam Police Station in the capital on 2 November 2016.
