Former RAJUK chief engineer held over graft charge
Dhaka: Former Chief Engineer of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) Mohammad Emdadul Islam was arrested from Dhaka’s Banani area on Thursday morning in a graft case filed against him on charges of acquiring illegal wealth and concealing information of assets.
A team of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested Emdadul from his residence at Banani in the morning, said deputy director (public relations) of the commission Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
Emdadul was taken to the commission headquarters around 11:00am, he added.
Deputy assistant director Saiduzzaman of the ACC filed the case on 23 February with Ramna Police Station on charges acquiring illegal wealth beyond known sources of income of Taka 87crore and hiding information of assets of Taka 1.18crore.
