Arrest warrants issued against 34 BNP men
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday issued warrants for the arrest of 34 leaders and activists of BNP in an arson case.
Metropolitan Session Judge Quamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order after accepting the chargesheet against 47 leaders and activists of BNP.
The court also asked the officer‐in‐charge concerned to submit a progress report on it on 5 April.
BNP leaders Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Barkatullah Bulu, Selima Rahman, Maruf Kamal Khan, Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu and Azizul Bari Helal were among the 34 accused.
Among the 47 chargesheeted accused, 13 BNP leaders, including MK Anwar, Amanullah Aman and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, secured bail in the case.
On 24 January, 2015, miscreants set a taxi‐cab on fire during the BNP‐led 20‐party alliance’s hartal and blockade programme at Purana Paltan area.
Police filed a case against 47 BNP men with Paltan Model Police Station.
