3 cases filed over Gabtoli clashes

Dhaka: Three separate cases were filed in connection with Wednesday’s clash between law enforcers and transport workers that left a bus driver dead at Gabtoli Bus Terminal in Dhaka.

Darussalam Police Sub‐inspector Naushedm said Biswajit, a sub‐inspector, filed a case against 48 identified and 1000‐1200 unidentified people for vandalising vehicles during the clash on Wednesday night.

Besides, sub‐inspector Jubayer filed a case against some unidentified people under the Special Powers Act.

Meanwhile, Ferdousi, a resident of Gabtoli area, filed a case accusing 48 identified and 1000‐1200 unidentified people for threatening and beating up people.

Shahinur Prodhan alias Shah Alam, in his thirties, a driver of Baishakhi Paribahan, who suffered injuries in a clash between transport workers and law enforcers in the city’s Gabtoli area, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.

Several transport workers, including Shah Alam, were injured in the clash with police and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Gabtoli Bus Terminal of the capital on Wednesday morning.
