Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) observed a two-hour sit-in programme on Thursday in front of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the city’s Ramna area protesting the fresh gas price hike.

As part of its countrywide programme BNP arranged the sit-in programme from 10:00am to 12:00 pm in front of IEB.

Several hundred BNP leaders and activists joined the programme with placards inscribed with different slogans against gas prices hike.

BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharref Hossain , Gayashewar Chnadra Ray,  Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice-chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo , AZM Zahid, Senior Joint Secretary Genral Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other senior leaders were present.

Earlier on 23 February, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) raised gas prices for all types of consumers.
