Banani pharmacy, sweetshop fined in drive by CRP
Dhaka: Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Consumer Rights Protection department jointly carried out anti-adulterated food drives and fined one pharmacy and one sweetmeat shop a total of Tk 50,000 in the city's Banani on Thursday.
Operation Officer of APBn-5 ASP Md Saidur Rahman said a team of the battalion along with Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection Department Abdur Jabbar Mandal carried out a drive at Bismillah Pharmacy and Roshmela Sweets.
During the drive, manager of the medicine shop Md Kaiyum was fined Tk 30,000 on charges of selling outdated medicines, while manager of the sweetmeat shop Helal Uddin was fined Tk 20,000 for preserving foodstuffs in unhygienic environment, ASP Saidur said.
Earlier a special team of the APBn-5 conducted a drive at Maiddhyapara of Khilkhet based on secret information on Wednesday and arrested Joshna Begum, 26, an alleged yaba peddler.
The law enforcers also recovered 13 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from her possession, ASP Saidur said.
During preliminary interrogation, she revealed that she has been peddling yaba for a long time.
A case was filed with Khilkhet police station.
