Dhaka: At least seven people were injured as a prison van turned turtle over the Tejgaon Bridge under Tejgaon Industrial Area while shifting prisoners from Dhaka Central Jail to Gazipur’s Kashimpur jail on Friday morning.

The Tejgaon Industrial area police Officer-in-charge Abdur Rashid told NTV Online police was taking around 24 prisoners to Kashimpur jail when the prison van turned turtle after hitting with the railing of Tejgaon Bridge at about 11:00am and left seven of the passengers injured.

Among the injured, six are prisoner and another is the vehicle’s driver, said Abdur Rashid.

The OC said the injured received primary treatment as their injuries were not critical.

However, the prison van and injured were taken to Tejgaon police station. Later, the prisoners were sent to Kashimpur jail through another prison vehicle.
