Dhaka: The visiting UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma will meet Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday afternoon.

BNP chief’s office’s media wing official Shairul Kabir Khan told NTV Online the UK minister will meet Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office at about 4:00pm.

Earlier, on Friday evening, Alok Sharma sat for a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the state guesthouse Padma.

During the meeting, Minister Sharma expressed optimism that the Strategic Dialogue between Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh and Permanent Undersecretary of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office will play important role in further strengthening and widening Bangladesh–UK ties and take it to the next level.

Alok Sharma arrived in Dhaka on Thursday on a three‐day visit to Bangladesh.

He was also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday morning.
