Neo-JMB’s ‘arms supplier’ placed on 3-day police custody
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Boro Mizan, a suspected arms supplier of Gulshan café attack, on a three‐day police custody for quizzing in a case filed under the Anti‐Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debobroto Biswas issued the order.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Delwar Hossain, inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP and also the investigation officer of the case, produced Mizan before the court with seven‐day remand prayer.
The court fixed Sunday for remand hearing due to lack of case documents.
On 1 March, police arrested Boro Mizan, in his sixties, from the city’s Banani area.
He allegedly supplied firearms and ammunition to the militants who attacked Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan in the city on 1 July last.
Boro Mizan, who is reportedly in‐charge of Neo JMB’s Shibganj unit in Chapainababganj, was previously the chief operational commander of militant organisation Al Tawheed. Later, he joined Neo JMB through slain militant leader Tamim Chowdhury.
During a drive, members of CTTC unit arrested four suspected arms suppliers of Gulshan café attack and recovered the prime elements of handmade grenade, 787 detonators and a nine mm pistol from Darus Salam area in the city on 2 November, last year.
Police filed a case under the Anti‐Terrorism Act on that day and Boro Mizan was wanted in the case.
