A Pirojpur tribunal on Sunday convicted a young man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a mentally challenged girl in 2014.

The court also fined lifer Md Sujon, also cousin of the victim, TK 20,000, in default, to suffer three years more in jail, reports UNB.

According to the prosecution, Sujon raped the girl at her house on August 10 in 2014.

Victim’s father filed a case against Sujon.

After examining the records and witnesses, additional district and sessions judge Md Zillur Rahman of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 handed down the verdict.
