Independence Day prog to have no anti-liberation people: Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said anti-liberation people will not be invited to programmes to be organised marking the Independence Day.
The minister came with the announcement at a press conference at his office after an inter-ministerial meeting over the security arrangements during the Independence and National Day.
Asked whether there is any list of anti-liberation people, Asaduzzaman said there is no such list. ‘But district- and upazila-level leaders and activists know the anti-liberation elements of their respective areas,’ he added.
Law enforcement agencies will take all-out security measures to avoid any untoward incident during programmes on the Independence Day, Khan said, reports UNB.
If foreign citizens, especially diplomats, go to the National Memorial, police will escort them to ensure their security, Asaduzzaman added.
Mentioning that the national flag is being dishonoured due to its whimsical use here and there, Asaduzzaman said the Liberation War Affairs Ministry is going to issue a circular fixing the colour and size of the national flag.
He also urged not to build any arcade on the way from Dhaka to Savar marking the Independence and National Day.
Dhaka Metropolitan Commission Asaduzzaman Miah and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed were, among others, present at the meeting.
