The victim, 40-year-old Mahbubur Rahman Dipti, was a resident of the village Tengarjani in sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Polashbari police officer-in-charge Mujibur Rahman said miscreants fired shots at Dipti who was riding a motorbike with another person named Sujan on Gaibanhdha-Nakaihat road at Monharganj in the afternoon on his way to Naikhat.
Dipti died on the spot, while Sujan was hacked by the attackers. The injured was admitted to local hospital.
Although police could not confirm any motive behind the murder or arrest anyone in this connection, victim’s brother Saheb Uddin said Mahbub might have been killed over old land disputes.
