Dhaka: Police recovered body of a 14-year-old domestic held from a residence of a physician at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Monday night.

The deceased is Ranjita Akhter, daughter of Anisur Rahman, a resident of Alipur upazila in Kurigram.

The Dhanmondi police sub-inspector (SI) Jahirul Islam said Ranjita used to work as a domestic support to Shafayat’s, a physician, residence for three years.

Being informed, police went to Shafayat’s house at about 9:30pm and rescued Ranjita’s body lying on the floor.

Later, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 1:00am for autopsy.

The SI said Shafayat’s family claimed Ranjita committed suicide by hanging herself. However, the reason behind the death will be confirmed after getting the post-mortem report.
