Sylhet: Police in separate drives arrested 47 suspected gamblers along with a huge amount of money and mobile phone sets from two different places in the city on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted a drive at a gambling den at Kajir Bazar in the city and arrested 42 gamblers around 3am, said Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Suhel Ahmed.

Police also seized Tk 1.77 lakh and 45 mobile phone sets from the arrestees, Suhel said.

In another drive, police arrested five people for playing archery on bet from Laldighirpar in the city in the morning, the OC added.
