Dhaka: A man and his son sustained bullet wounds as miscreants shot them at Motijheel of capital Dhaka on Tuesday evening.

Motijheel Police Station Officer-in-charge (Investigation) M Golam Rabbani said Shamsul Haque and his son Ashraful Haque Apu were returning home by a rickshaw in the evening.

When they reached in front of Motijheel Govt Boys High School, a group of 4-5 miscreants opened fire at them, leaving them injured.

The hoodlums also took away Tk 10,000 from Shamsul and fled the scene.

Pedestrians rescued Shamsul and his son and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 7:00pm.

Shamsul is an employee of Planning Ministry while Apu works at Religious Affairs Ministry, the OC said, adding that they were investigating whether it was a mere mugging incident or a planned one.
