Munshiganj: The death toll from Wednesday’s speedboat capsize in the Padma River rose to three with the recovery of one more body on Friday.

The body of Iqbal Khandaker, 45, president of Zanjira upazila unit BNP in Shariatpur district, was fished out from the river at noon.

Locals spotted the body near Ferryghat-1 of Shimulia in Louhajang upazila at noon and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body.

Victim’s brother Shahin Shikder identified him as Iqbal.

Earlier, a woman and a child were killed as the speedboat carrying 18 passengers capsized in the river in Louhajang on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a Class-VI girl, Tahmina Akhter, was still missing in the speedboat capsize.
