Jamalpur road crash kills 2 pedestrians
Two pedestrians were killed and two people injured as a microbus hit them at Barovita on Jamalpur-Tangail Highway at Sadar upazila in Jamalpur on early Saturday.
The deceased are Zahirul Haque, 28, a resident of Dikpait village and Golam Mostafa, 55, a resident of Shaunia Baschara village of the upazila, reports UNB.
Mohabbat Kabir, inspector of Narayanpur Investigation Centre, said the microbus coming from Tangail knocked the duo down as they were standing beside the highway and then plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering around 5:30am, leaving them dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured were taken to a local hospital.
Police seized the microbus but its driver managed to flee.
