Early to come, early to go

Although Paschimbanga chief minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to accompany Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Bangladesh visit next week, she is reported to come and return earlier than Modi.
Apart from her different arrival and departure schedule, Mamata is also not staying at the hotel where Indian prime minister will stay in Dhaka, according to Nabanna, the chief administrative office of the Paschimbanga.
The state government, however, made no formal announcement in this regard.
Against our Kolkata correspondent’s query about Mamata’s visiting schedule Paschimbanga food minister Jyotipriya Mallick said over phone, ‘I don’t know.’
Meanwhile different media in the Indian state have run reports saying that the Bangladesh government has made arrangement at Hotel Radisson near Dhaka airport for Mamata’s stay as per her request, whereas Modi is expected to stay at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
Paschimbanga’s ETV Bangla online portal Inaduindia said, quoting Bangladesh foreign ministry sources, that according to initial arrangements both Modi and Mamata were supposed to stay at Hotel Sonargaon, but later upon Nabanna’s request Hotel Radisson has been arranged for Mamata and her retinue.
However, many political figures in the Indian state think that Mamata brought this change in her visiting schedule due to her unresolved stance on Teesta issue. It was also gossiped that she made the changes to keep her anti-BJP image in the Indian political arena.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit to Bangladesh on 6 June.
Earlier Mamata had said she would not accompany Modi in Bangladesh visit, but later Paschimbanga authorities confirmed her visit.
