Dhaka: A man was killed and two others were injured as a girder of the Malibagh-Mouchak-Mogbazar Flyover collapsed near Malibagh railway gate area in Dhaka early hours of Monday.

The deceased is Swapan, in his forties, a resident of Pakundia upazila in Kishorganj.

The injured are Palash, in his thirty, a construction engineer, and Nurunnabi, around 40 years.

Ramna Police Officer-in-charge Moshiur Rahman said the girder suddenly slipped while it was lifted by a crane around 2:30am, leaving three people seriously injured.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where one succumbed to his injuries, said sub-inspector Bachchu, in-charge of DMCH police camp.

Rama police OC (investigation) Ali Hossain said Swapan died undergoing treatment around 3:50am.

The injured Palash were being treated at the hospital.
