Habiganj 4 kids murder: Case shifted to Speedy Trial Tribunal

Habiganj: The case filed over the killing of four children at Sundratiki village of Bahubal upazila in Habiganj was shifted to Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal on Tuesday for its quick disposal.

Judge of the Habiganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Prashanto Kumar Biswas sent the case.

Trilok Kanti Chowdhury Bijon, a state counsel, said the Home Ministry ordered in November last the transfer of the case to the Speedy Trial Tribunal.

Out of total of 57 witnesses, 43 have so far testified in the case.

On September 7, 2016, a court framed charges against eight people in connection with the killing of the four children.

The accused are Abdul Ali Bagal, Jewel Mia, Habibur Rahman Arju, Rubel Mia, Shahed alias Sayed, Billal, Ustar and Babul Mia.

Of the accused, five are now in jail while the rest three are on the run.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) pressed charges against eight people in connection with the killing of four children in Bahubal upazila on May 25 last year.

Four schoolboys who went missing from Sundrateki village in Bahubal upazila on February 12 were found buried at the village on February 17 last year.

Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies of Zakaria Ahmed Shuvo, 8, son of Wahid Miah, his two cousins --Tajel Miah, 10, son of Abdul Aziz, Monir Miah, 7, son of Abdal Miah -- and Ismail Hossain, 10, son of Abdul Quadir.
