3 held for assault in Holi festival
Dhaka: The Kotwali police detained three young men for assaulted people during the Holi festival, a Hindu spring festival, at Shakharibazar in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on their website released the detainees are Akash, around 19 years, Sifat, in his twenties, and Mamun, around 18 years.
DMP website says a group of young men joined the Holi festival at Shakaribazar in the Old town on 12 March. At one stage, they assaulted pedestrian and officer-goers by putting colours on them.
The troublemakers also assaulted women by stopping their rickshaws and forcefully put colours on their face and body. They assaulters also made offending remarks and gestures to the women.
Later, the local people filed complaints to the Kotwali police. Following the complaints police held three young men on Wednesday, says DMP website.
