Dhaka: A female bank official was stabbed to death allegedly by her former husband at Dhanmondi central road in Dhaka on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Arifun Nesa Arifa, in her late twenties, an official of Jamuna Bank. Arifa died undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 11:50am.

Arifa’s family members claimed her former husband Robin killed her.

DMCH Emergency unit resident doctor Jesmin Nahar said Arifa was stabbed and left critically injured at about 8:30am. She was admitted to the hospital at about 9:00am.

Jesmin Nahar said Arifa died as she was stabbed with a sharp weapon on right side of her throat.

DMCH Police post sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said a woman in critically injured condition was brought to the hospital at about 9:00am.

However, Arifa’s family claimed Robin stabbed her outside of her residence and fled from the spot.

Khadija Islam, Arifa’s sister-in-law, said Arifa worked in Jamuna Bank. She was married to Robin four years back. However, three month ago they had a divorce as they were not happy in their conjugal life.

Khadija Islam said Robin stabbed Arifa as she left her central road residence for office on Thursday morning. However, she was taken to DMCH, where she died undergoing treatment.
