Faridpur: A woman and her minor daughter were burnt alive in a fire at their house at East Phulbaria village in Saltha upazila of Faridpur early on Friday.

Local people said the fire, triggered by electric short‐circuit, broke out at the house of Sentu Sheikh early on Friday, killing his wife Farida Begum, in her twenties, and their four‐year‐old daughter Rabeya Begum on the spot.

Sentu suffered burn injuries while tried to save his family members, said Aminur Rahman, officer‐in‐charge of Saltha Police Station.

He was admitted to local hospital.
