Naogaon: Infuriated at the marriage of his ‘girlfriend’ with someone else, a youth of Baktarpur village in Sadar upazila wanted to teach her family a lesson. He along with his three friends one of whom happened to be a police informer devised a plan and properly executed it.

However, the plot boomeranged on them as they ended up finding them in police custody on Friday, reports news agency UNB.

The arrestees are Koushik Faisal, his friends Faruk Hossain, a police informant, Ripon Hossain and Al Rahid.

Acted on information provided by Faruk, a team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive at the house of Iqbal Hossain at Chakbulaki village in the morning, said DB Inspector Md Jakirul Islam, adding that the post-wedding reception of the newlywed girl was supposed to be held at their house in the afternoon.

The DB team recovered a shooter gun along with a bullet from the house and arrested Iqbal.

As locals and public representatives claimed that Iqbal could in no way be involved in the incident, the detectives interrogated Faruk when the real incident came to light.

Upon interrogation, the police source confessed that they staged the drama to frame Iqbal as he gave the hand of his daughter Ria in marriage to someone else though Koushik had a ‘love affair’ with her.

Later, the team arrested the four. A case was also filed against them under Arms Act.
