Anti-militant drive on at Ctg Lalkhan Bazar madrasah

Chittagong: A team of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) launched an anti-militant drive at a madrasah in Lalkhan Bazar of the port city on Saturday afternoon.
Additional deputy commissioner of the CMP (north) Mohammad Waresh said a CMP team started the drive at Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasah, run by Hefajat-e Islam nayeb-e-ameer Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury, in the area at about 5:30pm as part of the ‘block raid’.
The drive was going on till filing of the report at 6:50pm.
Earlier on October 7, 2013, three people, including two students, were killed and several others injured in an explosion in a room of the four-storey hostel of the madrasah.
Police later recovered huge explosive-making materials, 18 bottles of acid and four unexploded grenades from the surrounding areas of the madrasah.
