Don't misguide head of govt with wrong info: CJ

Dhaka: Chief Justice SK Sinha on Saturday urged all concerned not to misguide the head of the government with wrong information about the judiciary, and criticised those who have kept the administration and the judiciary at loggerheads.
"The minor problems of the judiciary are being highlighted before the head of the government in a wrong way. Please, provide the right information to help maintain a good relationship between the government and the judiciary," he said.
The Chief Justice was addressing the inaugural function of online application registration system of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission.
"The government is being affected because of the wrong information, not the judiciary," Sinha added.
He said corruption, crimes and terrorist activities would have come down in the country had the judges been able to properly exercise the power given to them by the constitution and the law.
There has been a huge backlog of cases in lower courts of the country as there is no adequate number of judges there, Sinha noted.
The judiciary has sent a 'requisition' to the authorities concerned to recruit 307 judges, including district and session judges, but there has been no response from the administration, the Chief Justice added.
