Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday talked to Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan over phone and congratulated them on their historic Test victory against Sri Lanka.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina talked to Mushfiq and Shakib over phone immediately after Bangladesh's victory in their centenary Test against Sri Lanka and extended her heartiest greetings to them for the win," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

Sheikh Hasina congratulated them uttering 'Joy Bangla' and prayed for continued success of the Bangladesh cricket team. "I pray for you to keep up the achievements," the press secretary quoted the premier as saying.

Bangladesh celebrated their 100th Test match in style with a maiden victory over Sri Lanka beating Islanders by four wickets on the 5th and final day of the 2nd match of the two-match Joy Bangla Cup Test Series at P Sara Oval in Colombo.

A magnificent knock of 82 under pressure from Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal and the third wicket stand with Sabbir Rahman of 109 enabled Tigers to beat Sri Lanka for the first time in Test cricket. Bangladesh recorded their ninth win in 100 Tests by this victory.
