The High Court on Monday asked the law enforcement agencies to refrain from harassing or arresting BNP joint secretary general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel without any specific case.

An HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order following a writ petition, reports UNB.

Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and M Masud Rana stood for Sohel while deputy attorney general Amit Talukdar represented the state.

Masud Rana said Sohel has secured bail in all 143 cases filed against him and he will be released from jail anytime.

The writ was filed with the High Court seeking its directives to the law enforcement agencies to refrain from arresting the BNP senior leader from the jail gate after his release.

On October 9, 2016, a court sent the BNP joint secretary general to jail upon surrender in different violence cases filed against him.

He was rearrested on March 6 last near Dhaka Central Jail at Keraniganj soon after his release from the central jail on bail.
