Panchagarh: At least four people were killed and 8 others injured by a lightning strike at Bhajonpur in Panchagarh on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were as 22-year-old Babu, son of Dulal; Azizul, son of Dulu of the area; Shahinur Islam, who is reportedly thirty years of age, son of Komsher Ali; and Tariqul Islam, a resident of Debnagar union parishad in the upazila.

A thunderbolt struck them while they were working in a stone quarry in the area at 5:40pm, leaving four dead on the spot and eight others injured, said Bhajanpur UP Mostafa Kamal Swapan.

The injured were admitted to Panchagarh Adhunik Hospital.
