Dhaka:  A businessman was shot dead by a group of masked miscreants in the Shamibagh area under Gandaria police station of Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased is Jakir Hossain, was a trader of brass and bronze.

The deceased’s family said four miscreants wearing masked on their face opened fire to Jakir when he was standing outside of his business store at about 12:00noon and left from the spot.

A salesperson of the area said four masked men shot Jakir Hossain and fled from the spot. Primarily, Jakir was taken to a local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 2:00pm, where doctors declared him dead.

DMCH police camp in-charge sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the bullet-hit body was kept at hospital’s morgue.
