Dhaka: Detective Branch held nine suspected members of banned Islamic outfits Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami (HuJI) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from the capital city Dhaka in early hours of Monday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (media) said members of the Detective Branch (DB) arrested the nine suspected militants foiling a bank robbery bid in the city.

DB in a text message on Monday morning said police also recovered huge quantity of bombs, explosives and jihadi books from their possessions.
The detectives said the arrestees were held while preparing for a robbery.

Police also seized bombs and bomb making materials from their possessions.

The text message read that a press conference will be held in this connection at Dhaka Metropolitan Police media centre.
