Dhaka shocked at Colombia casualties in landslide
Dhaka: Bangladesh has expressed deep shock at the tragic death of hundreds of people in a landslide in Colombia’s south-western border province of Putumayo.
‘I’m shocked and saddened to learn about the tragic death of hundreds of people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the families of the victims and the injured,’ Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said in a condolence message on Sunday.
The people of Bangladesh stand beside the people of Colombia at this trying hours, he said.
‘It’s a challenging task to deal with devastations of such magnitude. I firmly believe the resilient people of Colombia will be able to overcome this disaster soon and return to their normal lives with a renewed vigor,’ said the Foreign Minister.
On behalf of the people and the government of Bangladesh, the Foreign Minister conveyed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family members who have lost their near and dear ones in the fatal landslide.
