10 'militants' including 'ISIS member' held
Dhaka: Detectives in separate drives arrested 10 suspected members of banned Islamic outfits Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (Huji), Ansarullah Bangla Team and ISIS from different areas of Dhaka on Sunday.
The law enforcers also recovered huge quantity of explosives, bombs and Islamic books from their possession.
Briefing reporters at DMP Media Centre on Monday, Joint Commissioner
(Crime) of DMP Krishna Pad Ray said being tipped-off, a special team comprising illegal arms recovery team and Counter Terrorism and
Trans-National Crime Unit (CTTU) and Special Branch of Police (SB) conducted a drive at a garage of a multi-storied building at Banasree at about 3:05 pm on Sunday.
The law enforcers arrested six suspected Islamic militants–Kazi Iftekhar Khaled alias Khaled alias Efti, Fahad Bin Nurullah Kashmee alias Kayes, Md Rahat, Deen Islam, Ariful Karim Chowdhury alias Adnan and Md Nurul Islam from there.
The detectives also recovered 5 kgs of explosives, a large quantity of explosive substances, eight crude bombs, 6 chocolate bombs and Islamic books from their possession.
According to their statement, the law enforcers raided Lalmohon Das lane of Old Dhaka at about 7:30pm and arrested team leader Maulana Nurullah Kashemee along with his two accomplices–Md Delwar Hossain and Yasin Arafat.
During interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they are involved in the activities of banned Islamic outfits–HUJI and Ansarullah Bangla Team. They said they formed a new group Bangladesh Jihadee Group with members from both HUJI and Ansarullah Bangla Team, Joint Commissioner Krishna Pad said.
He said the arrested militants were preparing to commit bank robbery to collect fund for their newly formed organisation.
They were planning to commit bank robbery in Dhaka city and another district of North Bengal, Krishna Pad added.
Meanwhile, another DB team arrested suspected IS member Fida Montasir Sakeb from Banani DOHS on Sunday night.
During interrogation, he confessed that he is a representative of ISIS and he had been involved in collecting members for ISIS.
