Man gets death for slicing girl into 26 pieces after rape
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death in the sensational Rumi killing case.
The court also fined the condemned convict, Saiduzzaman Bachchu, Tk 1 lakh.
On June 2, 2012, police recovered the body of Roksana Akter Rumi, who was sliced into 26 pieces after rape, from a commercial building, 'Nahar Plaza', in capital Dhaka's Hatirpool area.
Abdus Samad, sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, filed a murder case.
Dipak Kumar Das, sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) Police and also investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet on September 1, 2012.
After examining the records and 16 witnesses, Judge Joyoshree Samaddar of the Women Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 pronounced the verdict.
