Satkhira: Three people were killed and seven were others injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Shyamnagar upazila on Wednesday morning.

Two deceased are Nurunnahar, in his thirties, a resident of Sora village, and Sajeda Khatun, in his forties, a resident of Bangshipur Patrakhali village of the same upazila, while identity of another one could not be known immediately.

The Shyamnagar police said two women died on the spot and seven others injured as a thunderbolt hit them in the area at about 8:30am.

The injured were admitted to Shyamnagar upazila health complex. Among them, condition of two was stated to be critical.
