Google Merchant Account to be introduced in Bangladesh: Palak

Dhaka: State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Sunday said Google authorities have agreed to take necessary measures to launch Google Merchant Account in Bangladesh.

They said this when the state minister met a team of Google authorities led by its Senior Council (Public Policy) Wilson L. White at the Silicon Valley in the USA, said an ICT Division handout.

Palak informed Wilson that many Bangladeshi youths are now working in the IT sector with fame, but they cannot transfer their earned money as Google Merchant Account has not been introduced in Bangladesh.

At the meeting, Wilson said they were interested to work with the ICT Division to initiate the operation of 'Google Launchpad' and 'Google for Entrepreneurs' in Bangladesh.

Both sides agreed to provide the scope for Bangladesh Startups to use Google Startup tools free of cost.

Palak also met the authorities of Facebook, Nuance Communications, Paypal-Xoom and top IT organisations at Silicon Valley from March 31 to April 2 last.

He also met a team of University of California, Berkeley there. Dean of College of Engineering of the university S Shankar Sastry led their team.

The state minister returned home on April 6.
