Lakshmipur: A court here on Tuesday convicted four people and sentenced them to death for violating a housewife in 2013.

The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each to the condemned convicts-Nasir Uddin, Masud Alam, Bahar Uddin and Mahim of Rashidpur area in Sadar upazila-in default, to suffer two years more rigorous imprisonment.

Among the convicts, Masud Alam was tried in absentia.

According to the prosecution, the convicts swooped on a house of the victim and violated her by turn after tying up her hands and legs on September 18, 2013. She was then treated at sadar hospital.

A case was filed in this connection the following day.

On September 26, police submitted chargehsheet against the four people.

After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Session Judge Saidur Rahman Gazi handed down the verdict
