Chittagong: A traffic constable was killed as a truck knocked him down at Chaturi Chowmuhuni in Chittagong city on Wednesday morning.

Dulal Mahmud, officer‐in‐charge of Anwara Police Station, said the truck hit constable Zahirul Islam, in his fifties, a resident of Noakhali, while he was performing duty there around 9:30am, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:15am, the OC added.

Police seized the truck but its driver and his helper fled the scene.
