RAB to provide highest security on Pahela Baishakh
Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will provide highest security for those celebrating Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year, on April 14, so that they can celebrate the day in peace and security.
"RAB will provide special security alongside police so that the city-dwellers can celebrate Pohela Baishak programmes peacefully and safely," said Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed on Wednesday after inspecting security measures at Ramna Batomol, the main celebration point of the Bengali New Year.
Dog squad, bomb squad and striking force will be on standby inside the Ramna Park to face any untoward incident, while most of the places of the park, in coordination with Dhaka Metropolitan Police, will be brought under CCTV coverage to avert any untoward incident on the day, he said.
RAB's checkposts will be set up at strategic city points. Foot patrols and motorcycle patrols will be carried out inside the Ramna Park, he said.
The elite force will not compromise from the security perspective. Its members will remain ready to foil any attempt, the RAB DG said, urging the city-dwellers to cooperate with his force members.
"Don't consider it a hassle or excessive during security check," he added.
The top official of the elite force requested the city-dwellers to inform nearest members of law enforcement agencies if they notice any suspected person or object.
RAB will also provide special security other venues in the capital as well as district levels, Benazir said.
