The deceased were identified as Golam Rabbani, 22, and Taslima Akhter, 18.

Rabbani was a HSC examinee from Satbaria Technical BM College while Taslima appeared at the SSC examination from Enayetpur Ideal High School this year, reports UNB.

Family members and locals said Rabbani and Taslima had been in a relationship for long but Rabbani’s family did not approve the affairs as the financial condition of Taslima’s father is not good.

Out of frustration, the youth and the girl killed themselves by hanging from a mango tree in the middle of a beel (water body) any time on Tuesday night.

Locals spotted the bodies around 10:00am on Wednesday and informed police.

The law enforcers recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue, said Officer-in-charge of Manda Police Station Anisur Rahman.
